Clothing & Equipment

Uniform:

  • The player's jersey and ball cap are paid for with your registration fees and will be provided to you before picture day.
  • The player/parent is responsible for providing grey baseball pants, navy socks, glove, and cleats.
    • Cleats - baseball/softball cleats preferred but soccer cleats are also acceptable.
    • Pants - grey baseball pants for games, no stripe. These can be long or knicker length, your choice.
    • Socks - navy color

Other items:

  • Sunglasses are highly recommended. (Many games or practices end with the sun low in the sky.)
  • Sliding shorts are recommended for coach pitch league and up.
  • Athletic cup recommended for male players in farm pitch league and up, as well as for catchers in coach pitch.
  • For games during cold weather, your player may wear a long sleeve shirt under the uniform jersey.
  • If your uniform pants need a belt (definitely not required), navy color is preferred.

Practice Attire:

  • For practices, long pants are needed to protect the players legs. These do NOT need to be "baseball" pants, but should be something that allows for a full range of movement (not jeans).
  • T-shirts are fine for practices
  • Baseball cap should be worn at practices.

Equipment:

  • Glove - each player should have their own glove.
  • Bats are not required, you can use a team bat. Many players choose to have their own bat for comfort and to be able to practice on their own.
    • If you wish to purchase your own bat, please note the regulations on which bats can be used for each league. (See current regulations on the Logan County Baseball Association page.)
  • Helmet. There are some available for team use, but most players choose to have their own. Helmets should fit snugly so they don't move while the player is running.
    • SOFTBALL ONLY: Face guards and chin straps on all helmets are required.

Where to buy:

Clothing and equipment can be purchased new at stores like Dunhams, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Walmart. Discount coupons are available. Clothing can also be found secondhand at stores like Goodwill, or possibly by locating a player who has outgrown their old items. If you need assistance finding used clothing or equipment, you may post your request on the ELM Facebook page.

Bats:

There have been rule changes made at the National Little League organization level that were implemented for Logan County in 2018.

For Tee Ball and Coach Pitch:

Bats used in 2017 may still be used (29" max length, 2 ¼" max diameter, with the USSSA 1.15 BPF certification).

However, if you purchase a new bat, it should have a U
SA baseball certification (as shown by the USA Baseball logo, above). That is what will be required in the future. For the bats marked with the USA Baseball logo, 29" max length still applies, but it may have a slightly larger diameter (up to 2 ⅝"). We will be transitioning to the new standard soon, so all new bats should meet these regulations.

For Farm League and Little League:

Bats used this year MUST have the USA Baseball certification. To determine whether your bat meets the new standards, you can examine it for the USA baseball logo (above) or visit https://usabat.com/ for a complete list of certified bats.

Farm league bats have a 29" max length and Little League bats have a 32" max length. Max diameter for both is 2 ⅝", with no drop limit. Again, these MUST have the USA Baseball certification. Meeting the length and diameter restrictions alone is not enough. Umpires will be checking and non-approved bats will not be permitted during games.

For Softball:
Bat must have one of the following stamps on it: ASA Softball, USA Softball, ASA 2005 logo.
