ELM Ball Association complies with all applicable state and federal laws regarding the safety of our children. ELM Ball Association also complies with the Ohio laws regarding concussion training (Return-to-Play Law) and sudden cardiac arrest (Lindsay's Law).
Background Checks:
All coaches and other volunteers with regular contact with the players are
required
to pass a background check before working with your children.
Volunteers and Coaches
: You will receive an email from Little League / JDP Background screening with a link to complete the background check application process. If you are curious about the process, they provide an
informational video here
.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay's Law)
Parents AND Players

watch
the Lindsay's Law parent information video
read
the information handout
sign
the required signature form
indicating that they have reviewed the material.
return
the signed form to the ELM board or to your coach before the first practice.
In accordance to Ohio law, this will be required
yearly
.
We need one signature form
for each player
. It must be signed by the
player
AND by a
parent or guardian
. In situations where you have multiple parents/guardians it is encouraged that all parents and guardians are informed of the information, but only ONE needs to sign the form.
Coaches

the Lindsay's Law coach information video
read
the information handout

Concussion Training (Return-to-Play Law):
Parents
who wish to educate themselves further on concussion training can check out the Ohio Department of Health's resources:
Return to Play - Ohio's Youth Concussion Law
Concussion training
is available for anyone who is interested, at no charge.
Coaches
must submit to the board a current concussion training certificate. Training must be completed at least once every three years. Previously earned certificates, if taken within the past three years, may be submitted. If a coach does not have a certificate, the coach can take the free online training to receive one using this link:
Online Concussion Management Training
. Please note that there are three different training courses available from different providers, but the coach should just take one course.
With your help, we will do our best to keep every participant safe!
